A HoneyFund is not your typical wedding registry but we love this idea as an option. Our plan is to spend a 2-week honeymoon this Fall traveling around Italy- Florence, Tuscany, Rome, Naples, Capri & The Amalfi Coast. Consider contributing to our HoneyFund rather than a traditional gift. La dolce vita.

Russell and Nicole joined Nicole's parents for Thanksgiving Day dinner at Salamander Resort in Middleburg, Virginia. There were so many people at Salamander that day, so Russell suggested they walk around outside to check out their Stallion Barn renovation on the edge of the property. It was a venue they had considered, so it seemed natural to Nicole to go see it. Unknowingly, Russell was schemeing of a way to get Nicole alone and away from the crowds to propose. She said yes!
It all began on Saturday, June 27th, 2009, at their mutual friend's going away party in Alexandria, Virginia. Nicole didn't know anyone at the party but the host, and Russell knew everyone, so needless to say Nicole was noticed upon arrival. Russell was quick to work Nicole from the beginning and by the end of the night, Russell scored Nicole's business card. By Tuesday, they went on their first date, Trivia Night at Rí Rá in Arlington. They instantly became a couple and remained so for the next year and a half.
It was little sad in October 2010, when Russell moved to West Africa for his job. Long distance relationships are tough. After a few months living half a world apart, they decided to take a break. A couple of years went by but they stayed in touch now and then through email.
In September 2012, Russell planned to be stateside for home leave and figured it would be fun to head up to NYC together for a long weekend. Naturally, Nicole's head started spinning and thoughts of "what does this all mean" ran through her head. After their NYC weekend, they had a long talk and decided to give the relationship another try. During that third year Russell was abroad, they took every opportunity to see each other and travel internationally together for a couple of weeks every few months. Summer of 2013 approached quickly and Russell, knowing he'd be moving back to Virginia, needed a place to live. Rather than move into Nicole's apartment, he suggested they both move into a new apartment together, starting fresh.
In August 2013, they moved in together. In June 2014, they got a puppy. In November 2014, they got engaged. In May 2015, they will marry and live happily ever after...
Meet Bailey, the third member of the wolfpack. No wedding website would be complete without puppy pictures. Bailey came into this world on April 21, 2014. Nine weeks later, Russell and Nicole brought home a sweet, shy and chubby ball of fur. Three days later, they met the real Bailey and their lives changed forever.
Bailey enjoys long walks around Clarendon, barking at shadows, countersurfing for unopened mail, jumping into your morning shower, stealing your laundry & playing with his best friend, Nala.
Russell was born and raised in Western Ohio, where his parents and two brothers still live today raising Shorthorn beef cattle. He completed most of his schooling at Miami East High School in Casstown in the great Miami County. Following his primary education, he attended The Ohio State University - O-H!! - where he studied Agribusiness and Animal Science as a member of the agricultural fraternity Alpha Gamma Sigma.
A year of soul searching ensued leading him to a masters in Agricultural Economics at Virginia Tech in 2005 moving him one step closer to his dream job (at that time)...being a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
Unfortunately, at that time, FAS was not immune from the hiring freeze that gripped much of DC, so first worked for the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service before eventually moving over to FAS in 2007.
Finally, in 2010, Russell got his chance to serve U.S. agriculutral interests overseas in Dakar, Senegal (West Africa)! Just a little of over a year ago, Russell returned to DC after an awesome three years in Dakar.
When people ask where Nicole's from, her answer is always, "What do you mean? Where I live now or Where I was born?" That's what growing up as a military brat will do to you. Home is wherever the Air Force took them next. Born on an American base in Germany, she spent her 1st year abroad before living outside of Boston for 7 years, 5 years in Albuquerque & then the USAF stationed them in Germany for 2 years. She began her high school years at Ramstein American High and after moving to Virginia, graduated from Woodbridge Senior High.
After high school, Nicole headed South to Virginia Tech. VT brought amazing memories and friends. She played VT Women's Rugby for 3 years and joined Alpha Chi Omega her Sophomore year. Oh, and she studied too. After college graduation, she took a job in Roanoke for 5 years before moving back to NoVA. Since 2006, Nicole has been living in Arlington and 6+ years ago, began working for her current employer, HCR ManorCare. She started working in their Heartland Hospice division and then 4 and 1/2 years ago, moved over to the Arden Courts Memory Care Community division. She works exclusively with the Alzheimer's & Dementia population along with their families. It's a tough job but she loves what she does.
